Safety Information
- Always use caution and common sense when wearing your baby.
- Baby is not buckled in, so always make sure that baby is securely attached to you.
- Anything you wouldn’t do while holding your baby in your arms, (i.e., riding a bike, driving in a car) you shouldn’t be doing with your baby in a sling.
- Make sure your baby is in a good position – back should be straight and chin should be off the chest. Position of the baby should mimic the way you would hold the baby in your arms.
- Make sure you can see your baby – ideally he/she should be high enough for you to kiss the top of their head.
- Make sure baby has a clear airway, especially for newborn and young babies with no head control!
- When you bend over, bend at the knees, not at the hips, and support your baby’s head when leaning over.
- Check all the seams and pressure points of your sling every time you put it on to look for signs of wear and tear and don’t use it if you find anything wrong with it.
- Don’t cook or drink hot liquids while wearing your baby.
- Be aware that baby can grab things they wouldn’t normally have access to without you noticing, so pay attention to what the baby is near.
- Watch out for baby as you walk through doorways and around corners, especially if baby is on your back.
- A baby carrier is not a car seat, so don’t use it like one!
