Frequently Asked Questions

Shipping

Shipping is a flat $5 for US orders. International orders will be charged actual shipping costs from Indiana, USA. Items will ship within 2-3 business days. Local pick-up is available in Westfield, IN or the Castleton area of Indianapolis (by the next business day). Contact me before ordering if you'd like to pick up your order and I will send you a modified invoice without the shipping fee.

What size do I need?

For the slings, I will ask for your height and weight (pre-pregnancy if you're pregnant) and will make the sling according your measurements. If mom and dad are both planning on wearing the sling, I will generally make the sling more to fit mom as dad will not need as long of a tail.

The mei tais are one size fits *most,* which is generally up to a size 20-24 and mens' size 2-3x. The Kozy carrier can be ordered with extra long straps (80" top straps, 40" waist straps) which are recommended for anyone who falls above those sizes or near those sizes who also happens to be very tall or for people who want to do special tying like a Lexi twist or Tibetan style. The Catbird Baby mei tai is a standard size and can't be ordered with XL straps, but will fit most people.

Are these the slings that were recalled?

NO!! The slings that were recalled are a "bag-style" sling and they are horrible and very dangerous! The slings that were recalled have been known to be unsafe since 2006 and were not recalled voluntarily until 2010. Please check out this article on the difference between the bag-style sling that was recalled and the slings and mei tais that I carry. All of the products that I carry are safe for your baby and mimic the way that you would carry a baby in your arms. That being said, every parent must be responsible and follow all the safety instructions that come with the sling and make sure they are using the sling properly. See my safety information page for more information. Natural Elegance, LLC cannot be held responsible for the improper use of any carrier.

What's the weight limit on the slings and mei tais?

Picture
All of the slings and mei tais (including the water sling) can hold a child from newborn to 35 pounds or as long as you can comfortably carry your child. The Pikkolo carrier is recommended up to 40 pounds. The picture here is of Kozy Carrier founder Kelley Mason in a Kozy on her husband's back. She said that she weighs about 115 pounds and was up there comfortably for about 15 minutes.

Return Policy

Please contact us for an authorization number in the event you need to return or exchange anything. Returns will be accepted within 30 days for a full refund (minus shipping costs if applicable) or store credit if the items are received in excellent condition. All items must be unwashed, unsoiled, unscented and in excellent condition and be in their original packaging with any labels/inserts/directions/accessories included.

Custom slings made with the customer's own fabric are non-refundable. **Please note that we cannot except returns from smoking homes or any items with pet hair on them. We reserve the right to refuse any return or exchange if the item is not in excellent condition or anything from the original packaging is missing.

All previous returns, clearance, or "seconds" are a final sale and thus non-refundable for return or exchange.

If purchasing a gift for the upcoming arrival of a new baby, please include the due date of the baby, and returns will be accepted (within the above conditions) up to 30 days after the birth of the baby.

Returns after 30 days will be considered on a case by case basis and will only be issued in the form of store credit and will be subject to a 10% restocking fee.

How long will it take to get my order?

Please allow up to 2-3 weeks for your custom sling or doll sling/mei tai to ship as all of them are made by hand and custom-made to your size (even for the in-stock slings). If you choose to have a custom sling made with your own fabric, please allow up to two weeks after I receive your fabric (I will let you know when I've received your fabric). If you have a pressing need for your sling, contact me and I *may* be able to ship it sooner. Sometimes I have some medium slings made up and ready for immediate shipment, but it depends on how much sewing time I have.

All other products will ship with 2-3 business days. If you're interested in a product that I carry but is out of stock, contact me about the next ordering date and it will take a few weeks after that to receive your order as the mei tais need to be made and shipped to me before I can ship them out.

How can I get you my fabric for my custom sling?

Contact me for my address and you can either mail it to me or if you're local, drop it off.
