Welcome to Carry Me With Love!

We are a resource dedicated to promoting the benefits of babywearing and helping parents find the right baby carrier(s) to fit their needs. There are emotional, physical, and practical benefits to babywearing (see below) and it is our hope that we can help parents take advantage of those benefits. Our experience has been that babywearing promotes hands-on parenting, strengthens the breastfeeding relationship, soothes fussy babies, and just plain makes parenting easier!
Babywearing is not just for moms! Often dads feel excluded by the breastfeeding relationship as they can't share in the feeding of their child. But we hope to show dads that babywearing will allow him the opportunity to share in the physical care and emotional nourishment of his child while developing a deeper bond. It also gives dads confidence that they can comfort their baby in their own unique way without nursing. Though there isn't that one perfect carrier that will do everything (we wish!), we'd like to help you find the best carrier(s) to suit your needs. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions. We'd be happy to help!

The Benefits of Babywearing

According to Dr. William Sears, the author of over 40 books on pediatrics and parenting and the founder of the terms “babywearing” and “attachment parenting,” here are some of the benefits of babywearing ("sling babies" is a general term to describe a baby worn in any type of soft carrier):
- Sling babies cry less – Studies have shown that babies who are regularly carried in slings (a general term used to describe a soft baby carrier) throughout the day cry less than those that are not. It helps mellow the baby and increase the parent’s sensitivity to the baby.
- Sling babies learn more – Babies are not spending their time crying, so they spend more time awake and observing the world around them. Dr. Sears calls this stage “quiet alertness.”
- Sling babies are more organized – Babies essentially have an 18-month gestation – nine months in the womb and nine months out. Babywearing simulates being in the womb and helps the baby regulate his/her hormones. Parental rhythms (walking, heartbeat, breathing, etc.) have balancing and soothing effects on infants.
- Sling babies get “humanized earlier" – A baby who is at the eye level of adults is intimately involved in the parent’s world and sees and hears what the parent does and is “right in the middle of the action,” taking in the world around them at a much faster pace.
- Sling babies are smarter – A baby’s brain develops by processing his/her environment which stimulates nerve growth. The baby is exposed to and participates in the environmental stimuli that the parent chooses, while the parent can help protect the baby from overwhelming stimuli. Babies learn patterns of behavior that they store away to draw on later in similar situations.
- Makes life easier for mom & dad – a baby that is worn is extremely portable and can go along anywhere and sit quietly in a sling. It’s much easier to get things done around the house with baby attached securely to your body. No more lugging that heavy stroller around, you can just zip in and out with baby close to you.
- Enhances parent-infant bonding – the special and intimate nature of having baby so close automatically brings baby and parent closer together.
- Stimulates attachment parenting – spending more time with baby while babywearing helps parents bond and not feel right when they are away from baby.
- Encourages a good breastfeeding relationship – babies have more access to the breast when in a sling which help them grow faster. It also helps mom be more confident breastfeeding in public as she can be more discreet with baby in a sling.
